Social Media Intern

We are seeking a self-starter intern to grow our online presence and build a track record of results in digital marketing and communications. Get involved with all aspects of event planning, social media and donor and volunteer cultivation as part of a nonprofit organization. This is a great opportunity to get involved with the nonprofit community and leverage your marketing background to promote charitable causes.

Job Responsibilities:

 - Expand CSC social media presence and impact via scheduling Facebook, Yelp, Twitter, YouTube, Google+, Instagram, and other social media platforms.

 - Online outreach and promotion of any upcoming events, partnerships, and programs.

 - Assist in planning, writing and managing the monthly eNewsletter.

 - Draft, distribute, and pitch news releases, media alerts and other stories.

 - Design flyers, graphics, evites and other marketing material for major events and activities.

 - Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions for marketing, communications, partnerships and brand building activities.

 - Update Chinatown Service Center website.


 - Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space.

 - Completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g. Social  Media, Marketing/Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Writing, IT, Social Works, Media Management, Journalism)

 - Must be computer literate (working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.) Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop highly desired. Knowledge of HTML and graphic design a plus.

 - An effective communicator, both written and oral. Ability to communicate in a professional manner with press and community contacts.

 - Knowledge of photography, videography and video editing, copyrighting, blogging, content marketing, storytelling is helpful.

 - Previous internship or related experience in social media, digital marketing, communications, nonprofit, startup and/or entrepreneurial is a plus.

 - Proactive work style is welcomed since we offer great flexibility and you can set your own schedule.

 - Preferably twice a week in the office and up to 4 hours can be completed at home.

 - This is an Unpaid Internship/volunteer, you will receive school credit.

 - Ability of conversational in Mandarin or Cantonese preferred, but not required.
