CSC Health's Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) Residency is a one-year postgraduate training program designed to prepare competent, compassionate, and confident general dentists through comprehensive clinical training in a community health center setting.

Residents train at CSC Health's Alhambra clinic in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, delivering comprehensive patient care under the supervision of experienced faculty. The curriculum integrates advanced clinical training with didactic instruction to develop evidence-based clinical decision-making, comprehensive treatment planning, and interdisciplinary patient care.

• Strengthen evidence-based clinical decision-making through comprehensive diagnosis, treatment planning, and interdisciplinary patient care.

• Prepare residents to confidently manage medically complex patients while serving diverse and underserved communities in a community health center setting.

• Develop collaborative leadership skills by working as an integral member of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.

• Foster lifelong learning and professional growth through faculty mentorship, didactic education, and continuous self-assessment.

• Promote a commitment to community service and public health by improving access to high-quality oral healthcare for underserved populations.

• Introduce residents to an integrative East-West approach to orofacial pain management, including exposure to acupuncture, acupressure, and lifestyle counseling as part of comprehensive patient care.

Residents provide comprehensive oral health care while managing their own patient schedules under direct faculty supervision. Throughout the year, residents diagnose, treatment plan, and deliver comprehensive care while following patients from initial evaluation through completion of treatment. Each resident works with a dedicated dental assistant to support efficient, high-quality patient care.

Residents train in a modern clinical environment equipped with digital dentistry technology, cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), and endodontic microscopes. Clinical training includes restorative dentistry, fixed and removable prosthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, oral surgery, pediatric dentistry, implant placement and restoration, and clear aligner therapy (Invisalign). Without specialty residency programs competing for cases, AEGD residents gain broad exposure to diverse clinical procedures.

Approximately 85% of the program is devoted to direct patient care, with the remaining 15% consisting of seminars, case presentations, literature reviews, and didactic instruction. Residents do not participate in on-call responsibilities.

One of the highlights of the program is hands-on implant dentistry. Under faculty supervision, residents participate in implant treatment planning, surgical placement, restoration, and long-term maintenance while integrating digital workflows into patient care.
