SERVICES The Social
and Community Services Program was the first
service established by CSC. The Department
provides the following services:

Information & referral · Translation and
interpretation · Form assistance · Case
management · Welfare, Medical and Social
Security info · Consumer
education
Outstation Services: To
ensure better access to government information
and application processing, the Social Services
Department regularly serves as an outstation
to
· The Social Security Administration
and · The Department of Public Social
Services.
Elderly Services: Another
Service that the Social Service Department
provides is the ESCAPA (Elderly Services
Consortium for Asian Pacific Americans) program.
This program offers:
· Respite to primary
caregivers of the elderly. · Housekeeping and
personal care to the elderly. · Care
management to the elderly population.
Two
New Programs: API CARES(Asian Pacific
Islander Community Awareness and Resources for
Elder Services): A project, funded by The
California Endowment, dedicated to providing
accessible and comprehensive mental health
services to the Asian Pacific elderly ages 60
and above.
Alzheimer's Disease Program: A
project to help elders who suffer from
Alzheimer's disease and to provide support
groups and education for their
caregivers.
In-home Services: In-home
services training program - a certified training
program for monolingual Chinese Older Adults to
gain employment in in-home and adult day health
care centers.
In-home services program -
Development of a business plan with a marketing
strategy that will develop a self-sustaining
in-home care micro-enterprise.
Asian
Pacific Islander family service projects -
Outreach, case
management and support groups for clients and clients'
family with dementia and mental
health education and services to the elderly
and their families.
